In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, Italian dressing, soy sauce, and molasses.
Place the cubed flat iron steak in the slow cooker. Sprinkle the dried chopped onion over the steak.
Pour the ketchup mixture over the steak in the slow cooker.
Turn the slow cooker to High and cook for 1 hour.
After 1 hour, reduce the heat to Low and continue cooking for about 4 hours, or until the meat is tender.
Toast the hoagie rolls by splitting them lengthwise and toasting them.
Serve the slow-cooked BBQ flat iron steak on the toasted hoagie rolls.
If desired, top each sandwich with 1/4 cup of prepared coleslaw for a classic southern BBQ flavor.
